What 2020 Taught Us About Wellness

It’s the end of 2020, and wellness can easily be deemed the major theme of the year. On a global scale, this was the year we learned about and began our collective battle against the havoc-wreaking COVID-19 virus.  We began to wear masks, stay socially distant from others, and implement new practices to boost our immune systems. We championed the world’s frontline healthcare workers and scientists, while also exploring the realms of holistic preventative measures.

If nothing else, we were all charged with looking at our habits and how they can contribute to our own wellness or illness. Personally, I found that there were a few key ways I could improve my personal wellbeing and that those practices would strengthen my mind, body, and spirit.

To create health harmony in 2020, I:

  • received a full panel blood test for the first time in over 10 years,
  • (safely) attended cardiology, dental, OBGYN, and primary care appointments,
  • connected to a holistic wellness advisor,
  • eliminated most processed foods (especially sugar) from my diet,
  • got proper diagnoses from longstanding health issues (more to come on this),
  • implemented a regular walking and strength training routine,
  • integrated new supplements into my diets,
  • rested with intention to relax my adrenal system and balance my hormones,
  • maintained my therapy practice through tele-therapy
  • journaled, reflected, and intentionally worked through traumas.

Together, these practices worked to create an improved health symphony in my life.

As we journey into 2021, I pray that you continue to seek the practices that may who the healthiest, most whole version of yourself.
